Nazca is the name of at least five different groups: 1. Avant-garde progressive rock group: Now defunct, NAZCA started off in 1980 with Alejandro Sánchez and Carlo Nicolau, later joined by three other musicians. All five had classical music training and experience in various orchestras and bands. Their compositions mix RIO, classical, avant-garde and ethnic influences (Mayan/Aztec/Inca). Their two studio and one live albums combine bassoon, oboe, violin, viola, cello, piano, bass, drums and percussion into a mysterious, ritualistic atmosphere.
