About Motor Humming
The instrumental three-piece Motor Humming formed in Kyoto, Japan in 1996, heavily influenced by the early '80s no wave supergroup Massacre with whom they share an affinity for metallic, choppy guitar play and frantic time signature changes. Their debut album Musical Aluminum was released on Tzadik in 1999 and received plays on John Peel's BBC radio show. The current line-up are guitarist Shimpei Hioki, bassist Takaharu Yamano and drummer Hiroshi Morimura.
