Metalheads was a collaboration between Goldie, Mark Rutherford and Linford Jones, aka DJ Freebase, for Synthetic Records. Their key release is the Terminator EP, around 1992. This record is notable among hardcore tunes of the time for its use of pitchshifted breakbeats, achieved using a harmonizer. Pitchshifting preserves duration while altering pitch. Terminator is considered to be among the first releases that marked a move from breakbeat hardcore to jungle and drum and bass
