About Max Woiski Sr.
Max Woiski Sr (Domburg (Suriname), 11 February 1911 - Hoogeveen (the Netherlands), 31 January 1981) was a Surinamese musician who emigrated to Amsterdam in the 1930's. He founded his own club called La Cubana in the Leidsestraat in Amsterdam. He played Latin-American and Surinamese music. In the 1960's, he owned his own production company MMP. When he needed a guitarist in the orchestra of his club, he got his son, Max Woiski Jr., to come to the Netherlands. In 2018, a Dutch play was made, portraying the life of father and son Woiski.
