The Meadowlands is the inaugural release from the Luke Howard Trio. The album explores the original tunes of Berlin-based Howard and bassist Jonathan Zion, in amongst a cover of producer Daniel Lanois' Flametop Green. Whilst the trio does not stray far from the jazz idiom, tunes such as Theme for an Untitled and Possibly Foreign Film and Pebbles reveal a minimalist aesthetic far removed from improvisatory self-indulgence. The trio also features drummer Daniel Farrugia (Bamboos, FGHR, Missy Higgins).
