About Liquid Hips
Liquid Hips was born in August of 1981 as a cooperative post-post punk electric jazz hardcore freebop unit. The first show was that month at the legendary A7 in the East Village. The founding members were John Mulkerin, Jay Joseph, and Rob Reynolds. By the mid '80's, the band had become a songwriting vehicle for frontman John Mulkerin, who was also a member of Joseph Bowie's Defunkt. By then, the sound of Liquid Hips had become more funk/groove oriented, and the lyrics became more pointedly political.
