About La Charo

Charo Bogarín, known artistically as "La Charo", is an artist dedicated to researching the musical folklore of her homeland. Founder of the duo Tonolec, she is also currently working as a soloist. She was born on 24 September 1972 in Clorinda, province of Formosa, Argentina. She is the great-great-granddaughter of the Guarani chief Guayraré. On 12 September 1976, her father, Francisco Javier Pancho Bogarín, was "disappeared" (unidentified) during the Videla dictatorship
