About Karmoy
Karmoy's Nordic fusion of electronic and organic sounds exemplifies the boltfish ethos. Their name means "an island which acts as a screen against the sea". The shipyards and fishing port of Stavanger and the industrial city of Haugesund have a strong influence on their sound - brooding glacial textures, warm melodic tones and staccato rhythms constructed from the artefacts of the recording process - white noise, interference and data glitches. The diffused northern light seems to crystallize these sonic textures into specular form.
