About Kanizsa Csillagai
The ancient Boyash gypsy music of western Hungary has been resurrected by Kanizsa Csillagai (translated: Stars of Kanizsa). Led by singer, guitarist and dancer, Zoltan Horvath, the group radiates with a rhythmic interplay of wooden bowls, milk pitchers, tambourines and hypnotic mouth music or vocal percussion. Formed by five Boyash and Wallachian gypsies from Nagykanizsa, Hungary, Kaniszsa Csillagai continues to reflect closer melodic ties to Romanian music than most Hungarian Gypsy music.
