June11 - Matter Is Alive : A collection of painted songs and soundscapes, atmospheric, intimate, slow Jan Van den Broeke: vocal, keys guitars, percussion, samples The CD starts with a cover version of By This River, a mood-evoking 1977 Brian Eno song, and contains melodic tributes to other abstract artists like Marthe Wéry and Robert Rauschenberg. Harold Budd, another great influence, is honored with a graceful waltz. The music seems to fill the gap between ambient and song.
