Two of her songs hit number one: "You Got to Pray" in 1996 and "Run to You" in 1997. She also lends her vocals to the works of other artists, most notably former Deee-Lite producer Towa Tei ("Luv Connection"), and Brooklyn Funk Essentials. After releasing The World is Full of Trouble (1994) and her self-titled second album Joi Cardwell with Eightball Records in 1995
