
About John Simon
John Simon (born August 11, 1941 in Norwalk, Connecticut) is an American musician, record producer, and composer. He is best known for his work with The Band as producer and musician on Music from Big Pink and The Band, where he notably played the sousaphone bass line in "Rag Mama Rag" Simon began his career with Columbia Records, where he produced music for a wide variety of acts. Among his early production credits are the 1966 No. 2 hit song "Red Rubber Ball" by The Cyrkle.
