Joe Hicks recorded a single issued by Sly Stone's Stone Flower label, and on D&B Together. With Bobby Womack, he co-wrote "Simple Man" and "Ruby Dean" (recorded on Understanding) and "That's The Way I Feel About Cha". In 1973 he recorded a self-titled album "Mighty Joe Hicks" released off of Stax records.
