About Joannes Gallus

Joannes Gallus (Jean Le Cocq) (fl. 1514-43) was a Franco-Flemish composer. Probably a Papal singer in 1514, he accompanied Willaert to the Ferrara court in 1522 and was maestro di cappella there until 1541. He published motets and a collection of madrigals (including works by other composers), and his chansons, in a motet-like style, appeared in anthologies.
