Jayanta Hazarika (1943-1977) was a great singer and composer in the world of Assamese music. He performed playback singing for numerous Assamese films and made a number of vinyl records and audio cassettes with his singing. He is the first Assamese singer that targeted the urban youth with his music. A younger brother of Bhupen Hazarika, he died at the young age of 34.
