About Jan Savitt

Big band leader who enjoyed some popularity during the late-'30s and early-'40s. He was born in Russia but raised in the USA. Enjoyed some critical respect and had a band which could swing, as on favourite "720 in the Books," but also played in a sweeter vein without coming across as a "cornball" band. "Make Believe Island," featuring band singer known as Bon Bon, was Savitt's other moderate hit.
