Jacob Vredeman de Vries, born in Antwerp around 1563 and died in Ljouwert (or Leeuwarden) in September 1621, was a singing teacher in Ljouwert, and a composer, originally from the Netherlands, who published, among others, in 1602 twelve villanelles in the Frisian language. Jacob Vredeman would be a son of the famous architect Jan Vredeman, born in Leeuwarden in 1527. He had temporarily settled in the southern Netherlands, where his son was born in 1558 or 1559, probably in Antwerp.
