About Instant Composers Pool
Inspired by the Fluxus art movement, the ICP was formed by Han Bennink, Misha Mengelberg and Willem Breuker in 1967 as an organisation which promoted avant garde Dutch jazz performances and recordings. Besides ICP as a collective, the original founders did also setup a label: Instant Composers Pool. ICP (the organization) sometimes is used synonymously with the ICP Orchestra (a band which emerged from the ICP's activities and whose line-up consolidated over the years). Those two, however, are different entities.
