Born in 1937, Ibrahim Hamma Dicko started singing very early in childhood because he was discovered to be a wonderful interpreter of koranic verses during religious ceremonies. He settled in Gao, a little town in Mali on the edge of the desert that lies at the feet of the Niger river, between Timbuktu and Niamey.
