About Hermann Keller

HERMANN KELLER was born in Zeitz (Saxe-Anhalt, Germany) in 1945. He took piano lessons from the age of six and started composing at 14. From 1963 to 1968 he attended the Weimar Conservatory, where he studied Composition with Johann Cilenšek and Piano with Ingeborg Herkomer. This was followed by an assistantship and a teaching position at the Hanns Eisler Conservatory in Berlin. From 1971 he played on a regular basis with jazz musicians, drawing international acclaim with his Berlin Improvisation Quartet (or Trio).
