About Hawthorne Headhunters
The quartet-turned-duo of Hawthorne Headhunters came together in 2007 when rapper-producer Black Spade (aka Stoney Rock) ventured from St. Louis to Southern California in search of inspiration. While there, he formed the psych-soul outfit with producers Ced No (aka I, CED), Proh Mic and singer Coultrain, whose sometimes-wobbly vocals are a great complement to their equally bouncy production style. In the ensuing years, which included the release of eponymous EP, Proh Mic and I,Ced left the group to focus on solo endeavors.
