About Hawkwind Zoo
Hawkwind Zoo was a name that space rock outfit Hawkwind initially decided upon in 1969 whilst recording their first demo which featured early versions of "Hurry On Sundown", "Kiss Of The Velvet Whip" and a cover of Pink Floyd's "Cymbaline". This demo got them signed and legend has it that it was legendary DJ John Peel who suggested they drop the "Zoo" from the name. Various tracks by this permutation of the band appear on compilations and reissues.
