GOT the beat was the first and only sub-unit of SM Entertainment's supergroup project Girls On Top. The project featured the company's female artists in various different sub-units. The first unit consisted of seven members: Soloist BoA, TAEYEON and HYO of Girls' Generation, SEULGI and WENDY of Red Velvet, and KARINA and WINTER of aespa. The group teased their first digital single on January 1, 2022 at SM's free online concert "'SMTOWN LIVE 2022' SMCU EXPRESS @KWANGYA." The track "Step Back" was officially released on January 3, 2022.
