About GNR
GNR or "Grupo Novo Rock" is a portuguese rock band formed in Porto (Oporto) in the beginning of 1980 by Vítor Rua that abandoned the band in 1982 in search of other sonorities, forming the duo Telectu, along with Jorge Lima Barreto. In 1982 the band released their first LP, "Independança", composed and produced by Vítor Rua. This work, considered by many as the best new wave/art-rock album ever made in Portugal, had a 26 minutes track of improvisation rock called "Avarias".
