About German Brass
The year 1985, the 300th anniversary of Bach's birth, was the decisive impetus for the formation of GERMAN BRASS. The revolutionary innovation which gave birth to GERMAN BRASS and which is the secret behind the ensemble's unique sound is the consistent and intentional use of two different families of instruments. Trumpets and trombones produce an immediate sound which is sent forwards. They "lead" so to speak. They are complemented by a group of horns and other similar instruments whose mellow tone quality unfolds more indirectly.
