About George Stavis
Visionary banjo player. George Stavis introduced himself to Bela Fleck once, after a Fleck concert. Bela's immediate response -- "I know who you are -- you're the guy who started all this!" First album "Labyrinths" is definitely part of the banjo canon (John Fahey, Pickens&Estribou, etc.). Released on Vanguard. Here Stavis plays Earl Scruggs, John Coltrane, Ravi Shankar and John Fahey, but his own unique musical voice is what dominates the recording.
