
About Gaetano Maria Schiassi
(b Bologna, 10 March 1698; d Lisbon, 1754). Italian composer. He worked as a violinist at a court in Italy and then Darmstadt; he had ten operas and two oratorios given in Italy including a Bolognese dialect comedy. From c 1734 he was in Lisbon, where he served in the royal chapel; he wrote an opera and four oratorios for Lisbon as well as virtuoso sonatas and concertos for violin.
