Freudiana was originally intended to be the eleventh album by The Alan Parsons Project, but by release time was the first album credited to Eric Woolfson as a solo artist, marking his final project with former collaborator Alan Parsons, who is credited as producer. After recording the album, Woolfson worked with Brian Brolly to adapt the album into a stage musical. As befits the title, all of the songs on the album are references to theories of Sigmund Freud.
