About Franco Maria Giannini
Aldo Parente (Franco Maria Giannini) was born in Rome in 1945. Caught up in the spirit and the winds of change, political and musical in the late 1960's he took up music as a way to express himself. He signed to RCA records and took the stage-name FOLKALDO. The most distinguishing aspect of this phase of his career was, at the suggestion of his commericial producer, was the use of a puppet 'SHAKIDU' who was to represent Folkaldo's alter-ego. At the end of each show SHAKIDU was tossed to the crowd as a symbol of personal liberation.
