Antoine Caliste Domino Jr. (February 26, 1928 – October 24, 2017), known as Fats Domino, was an American singer-songwriter and pianist. He was one of the early figures in the development of rock and roll and sold more than 65 million records during his career. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, to a French Creole family, Domino signed with Imperial Records in 1949. His first single, "The Fat Man", has been cited by some historians as one of the earliest rock and roll records and among the first to sell more than one million copies.
