
Eyuphuro (meaning 'Whirlwind') is a Mozambican band combining traditional African and western influences. The band sing partly in Portuguese, but mainly in the Makua language. The band was formed in 1981 by Omar Issa, Gimo Remane and Zena Bacar. They released the successful album Mama Mosambiki before breaking up in 1990. They reformed in 1998, and in 2001 they released a new album, Yellela.
