About Escalandrum
Although he knew the word "Piazzolla" and "Tango" would be forever bonded, he decided to played jazz. In spite of being his grandfather a "bandoneon" icon, he chose drums. Beyond family traditions, Daniel "Pipi" Piazzolla created Escalandrum in 1999 to celebrate music among friends. The group's name is a neologism that came out of mixing escalandrun (an argentine kind of shark whom "Pipi" used to fish with father Daniel and grandfather Astor) and drum.
