If a single resistance can replace the combination of resistances so that the current in the circuit remains unchanged, then that single resistance is called the equivalent resistance. We already studied the basic of equivalent resistance in class 10th. It can also be defined as a resistance that dissipates the same amount of power as dissipated by the entire circuit.
