Luis Ángel Ramírez Saldarriaga AKA El Caballero Gaucho was born in 1917 in Pereira, a city located in the middle of the Colombian Andes. He is, alongside Oscar Agudelo, Olimpo Cárdenas and Tito Cortés, one of the most representative interpreters of early Colombian tango and milonga. He is also considered a pioneer of the despecho genre. One of his biggest influences was the Argentinean singer Ignacio Corsini, AKA El Caballero Cantor.
