About Ede Staal
Dutch folk singer from the province of Groningen. Most of his songs are in the dialect of this province, a language related to the other "Platt-duutsch"-dialects of the eastern Netherlands and northern Germany. The songs deal with the lives of people and places in the countryside of Groningen. Ede Staal (born on August 2nd 1941) recorded his first single in 1973, though his first real success didn’t come until 1982, when his song 'Mien Toentje' (My Garden) became very popular as the jingle of a gardening show on a local radio station
