Dorothy Carless was born in 1921. Her sisters were Pearl Carr, born 1923 , who had a popular singing partnership in the U.K with Teddy Johnson, and Carole Carr, 1928 - 1997, who also sang with bands such as Geraldo, as did Dorothy. Through the late 1930s , the 1940s and into the 1950s she continued singing with various bands. A good pianist, she got her break with Ray Noble's Orchestra in the 1930s, moving on to other bands such as Ambrose and Geraldo, making radio appearances regularly.
