About Dirk Powell
Dirk Powell is an American fiddler and banjo player and considered one of the world's leading experts on traditional Appalachian fiddle and banjo styles. He has won four Grammy Awards and has recorded with a variety of artists including Rhiannon Giddens, Loretta Lynn, Irma Thomas, Tim O'Brien, Kyle Carey and Eric Clapton. As well as he solo work, Powell is a founding member of the Cajun group Balfa Toujours and has recorded as Dirk Powell, Tim O'Brien & John Herrmann and as Tony Furtado & Dirk Powell.
