About Direct Drive
The whatmusic.com interview... The most important sound in the history of Oval Records might have been the clunk of the cassette that dropped through the letterbox of our basement office in Clapham, South London, in the Autumn of 1981. I went to see who had dropped it off, but he had already gone back up the front steps and into the street. There was a note in the packet telling us the band was called Direct Drive, and this was their demo in search of a record deal.
