The Crackers were founded in 1979 and first appeared as "The Crackers" (previously called "People" since 1970) on December 8, 1979 at the Wartburg in Wiesbaden. They were a pioneering German rock band in the Neue Deutsche Welle genre. Next to the Rodgau Monotones, Flatsch! and Hob Goblin they also were protagonists of the so-called "Hessen-Power" in the mid '80s.
