David Mallett (born in Sebec, Maine, on 21 April 1951; died 17 December 2024) was an American singer-songwriter remembered for writing the "folk standard" composition "Garden Song". Mallett played folk songs founded on his experiences of New England but tackling current global issues. His song structures are simple without being trite and direct without being rude. He was able to evoke beauty in a way that is emotionally moving. He first performed age 10 as a child duo with his brother.
