Dave Cartwright (born in Haslemere, Surrey, in April 1943; died 8 August 2015) was a British singer, songwriter, guitarist and author remembered for his 1970s solo albums. Cartwright grew up in Amblecote, West Midlands, where, on lead guitar and vocal, he formed his first rock and roll group, The Crossfires, in 1959. He then joined the Kidderminster outfit The Clippers, before 'discovering' folk music in 1964. His subsequent folk club work and the signing of a deal with Transatlantic Records in 1970 enabled him to turn professional in 1971.
