Christian Friedrich Witt (also spelled Witte; c. 1660–1716) was a German court musician who spent most of his working life at the ducal court of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg. Born in Altenburg to the court organist Johann Ernst Witt, he received early training at home and was later supported by the Gotha court for further study, including periods in Vienna and Salzburg and composition training in Nuremberg with Georg Caspar Wecker. In 1686 he took up a post in Gotha as chamber organist and remained there for the rest of his career
