Caspar Ecchienus (born around 1550; died around 1600) was probably a Norwegian composer. The name allegedly comes from a Latinization of the Norwegian name Ormestad. Nothing is known about his life. Only one of his compositions has been preserved, namely a motet on Psalm 50 (51), verse 12: Cor mundum crea in me Deus for 4-part choir a cappella. The motet, which is fraught with numerous sentence errors, is considered one of the first polyphonic works by a Norwegian composer.
