Adopting the moniker 'Cancerslug' in 1999, the band's lyrical themes frequently explore topics such as misanthropy, depression, the occult, necrophilia, rape, murder, lycanthropy, violence, inhumanity, hate, love, wrath, anger, and the end of the world.
