BOI WHAT is a SpongeBob focused music project by Los Angeles-based musician and producer Eli Strobeck, who also performs as Mathue. Strobeck started BOI WHAT in 2023 as a playful exploration of AI voice manipulation, using voice filters to emulate the voices of characters from the Nickelodeon series, such as SpongeBob, Plankton, and Squidward. With each character’s voice filtered through AI, he quickly developed songs with broad genre influences, creating a catalog of music that expanded from hip-hop, country, metal and pop punk.
