The year 2004 saw the launch of the social networking site Facebook, the exposure of Janet Jackson’s breast during the Super Bowl half time show, the re-election of president George W. Bush and Britney Spears getting married - twice. But there was something that happened of which no-one ever wrote or spoke about. That year also saw the untimely death of Heavy Metal’s most loved subgenre - Power Metal. After 2004 the melodies which once filled every metal-loving warrior’s heart have never been the same.
