Although he writes his tracks electronically, the inspiration for most comes from his improvisatory piano playing. The system used by Barry van Oudtshoorn to write his music is OpenMPT, a piece of software known as a tracker. Using this system as well as Native Instruments Kontakt (and various other virtual instruments), he is able to produce high-quality music.
