About Anton Fils

Anton Fils (1733-1760) - also Antonín Fils, Johann Anton Fils, Johann Anton Filtz - was a German composer of the classical period. Fils was born in September 1733 in Eichstätt, Germany. In 1754 he became part of the "Mannheimer Hofkapelle" as a cellist. The Mannheim orchestra at the time was conducted by Johann Stamitz. In 1759 Fils married Elizabeth Range. He died very young, at the age of twenty-six, and was buried on 14th March 1760 in Mannheim.
