About Amon Amarth
Amon Amarth is a Swedish melodic death metal band from Tumba, formed in 1992. The band's name is derived from the Sindarin name for Mount Doom, a volcano in J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth. Their lyrics are primarily inspired by Viking mythology and history, and while they are sometimes categorized as "Viking metal", their music is generally considered melodic death metal, a term the band also uses. The members of Amon Amarth are lead guitarist Olavi Mikkonen
