About Akio Yashiro

Akio Yashiro (矢代秋雄 Yashiro Akio) (Tokyo, 10 september 1929 - Yokohama, 9 april 1976) was a Japanese composer. He was a friend of the writer Yukio Mishima and the composer Toshiro Mayuzumi. He studied at the Paris Conservatoire under Nadia Boulanger and Olivier Messiaen. He then returned to Tokyo in 1956, where he taught at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music.
